Transformations
My own Health and Fitness journey started at an early age when I was 16 years old. I was a chubby teenager who had experienced being teased since the age of 13 due to my body size. I realised that the only person that could create that positive shift in my life that I wanted was me. I started researching about healthy foods and learnt how to create my own eating plans and strategies to become healthier and to lose the unwanted weight. I also started to exercise daily with a friend and a group of ladies, and this is where my love for exercising and group training started.
Fast forward 6 months and I had lost 25 kilos. At this stage I was dominating 2 hours of exercise minimum a day and finally felt fit and healthy and had gained a self confidence in myself that I had never had before.
There was one big issue though, I was not healthy. I was limiting my food intake, cutting out whole food groups and over exercising. After many years of yo yo dieting and being on an emotional roller coaster ride I realised how important mental health was.
I learnt about self-love, loving the body I was given and working with it versus against it. This train of thought also made me fall in love with moving my body and not seeing exercise as punishment. I started to exercise purely because I wanted to be fit, healthy and I also had this drive to improve myself.
With this newfound self-love everything fell into place and my relationship with food changed too. I was eating good healthy whole foods with the odd glass of wine and chocolate in between and would not beat myself up about it.
My journey inspired me to create MY WHY, my reason for The Meagan Method. Teaching others that health and fitness is fun and that eating healthy is not difficult. Yes, it takes daily work but is within everyone’s reach. This lifestyle is constant, sometimes you do not want to get up and go train, but it is on these days when you are dedicated to the process that the greatest changes occur.
I say it to clients all the time and I will say it to you too. IF I CAN DO THIS, THEN SO CAN YOU!
Note to self:
Remember that reason you are doing this, is to make your life better.
